Playscapes and setbacks -I am not in favor of regulating children’s playhouses or children’s play equipment

Kevin Glasheen

Council Member
P&Z is studying the issue. There is ambiguity in the code - and even if we want to make sure playhouses are not regulated we need to do a better job in the code of defining what is a “playhouse” vs a auxiliary building,, such as a granny flat. That does not necessarily mean anything will pass, and if something does it may just be a clarification that playhouses are not subject to code. P&Z has not even made a recommendation yet.

If it looks like something will pass I will personally let you know.

The other issue is whether we should allow HVAC, pool equipment and generators in It wouldn’t hurt to pay attention and to send an email our city secretary Makayla Rodriguez to register your opinion one way or the other. [email protected]

I am inclined to vote against any regulation of playhouses - and do not want to further limit the placement of hvac and pool equipment in setbacks. We have done a lot to codify the recommendations of the comprehensive residential code review committee and it’s time to give it a rest.
